May 12th 2008: Russia announced its line-up for the upcoming Olympics as Anna Chakvetadze, Elena Dementieva, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Maria Sharapova will form the team. In doubles, Vera and Dinara Safina will play as well as Svetlana Kuznetsova (although it's uncertain who she will play with).

May 4th 2008: Congrats to Vera!!! Today she won the final of the ECM Prague Open as she defeated Victoria Azarenk with a 7-6, 6-2 win!! "It was a tough match. She is a tough young player and it was really close, especially the first set. We both had our chances in that set but I was able to pull it out. It felt great to get through such a tough match."

May 3rd 2008: Vera advanced to the final in Prague today as she defeated Katerina Srebotnik in 2 sets, a 6-2, 6-4 win! In the final, she will face Victoria Azarenka.

May 2nd 2008: Vera was in action today, she won 6-1, 6-2 against Roberta Vinci in the quarterfinals today in Prague, she will now face either Katerina Srebotnik or Iveta Benesova.

May 1st 2008: Vera was scheduled to play today against Magdalena Rybarikova but her opponent retired so Vera advances to the quarterfinals where she will now face Roberta Vinci.

April 29th 2008; Good news as Vera won her match today in the Prague, as she defeated Czeck Republic's Lucie Hradecka with a 6-2, 6-3 win, she will now face Magdalena Rybarikova.

April 27th 2008: Congrats to Vera and to the Russian team:) Today, she put her team in the final as she defeated Vania King 4-6, 6-3, 6-2!! Russia will face Spain (who defeated China 4-1) in the final! More details soon...

April 26th 2008: Good news for Vera and the Fed Cup team as they took a 2-0 lead in this weekend's semifinal against USA. Anna Chakvetadeze defeated Vania King 6-4, 7-5 and Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Asha Rolle 6-2, 6-1!!! It's looking good!

April 21st 2008: Congrats to Vera, she advanced to #14 in the rankings, her best ranking since 2005!!!

April 20th 2008: Vera's tournament unfortunately ended with a loss, she ended up losing today's singles final, a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 loss to Serena Williams...

April 20th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Charleston as she defeated Russia's Elena Dementieva with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 win, she will now face Serena Williams.

April 17th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Charleston as she defeated France's Marion Bartol with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win, she will now face Jelena Jankovic

April 16th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Charleston as she defeated Virginia Ruano-Pascual with a 6-1, 6-0 win, she will now face Marion Bartoli.

April 15th 2008: Good news as Vera won her match today in the Charleston as she defeated Chia-Jung Chuan with a 6-2, 6-2 win, she will now face Virginia Ruano-Pascual or Olga Poutchkova.
