December 10th 2006: Maria was playing the Spanish Championships and she apparently played her last match, she was defeated 6-2, 6-0 by Lina Domingues-Lino... congrats on a great career!

September 9th 2006: Maria and Lourdes Domingues-Lino lost their doubles 1st round 7-6, 6-3 against Vanc and Rodionova.

August 30th 2006: Unfortunately Maria Sanchez Lorenzo suffered a 3 set loss in the US Open 1st round, a 6-4, 3-6, 0-6 loss.

July 18th 2006: Maria's tourmament in Palermo did not last long as she got injured and had to stop while down 6-3, 1-0 against Lourdes Domingues-Lino...

May 15th 2006: Great news for Maria Sanchez Lorenzo as she won her 1st round at the Rome tournament. She posted a 2 set win against Tatiana Garbin, a 6-4, 6-4 win that now puts her up against Jelena Jankovic

May 16th 2006: Maria was trying to qualify for the Rome main draw this weekend. She won her opening match against Julia Vakulenko but she then lost to Viktoria Azarenka but she got a lucky loser spot:)

May 8th 2006: Unfortunately Maria Sanchez Lorenzo suffered a 2 set loss in the Qatar Open 1st round, a 6-1, 6-4 loss.

April 23rd 2006: Maria is part of the Spanish team playing in Fed Cup this weekend:) Spain did advance with a win over Austria... Maria did not play the first matches, she did defeat Tamira Paszek but Spain had already one by then...! Congrats!
