August 27th 2003: WOW!!! In a huge match, Maria posted a very big 3-6, 7-6, 7-5 win over Anca Barna from Germany. I was at the match and will have more details in my daily report on Tennisrulz! Anyway, Maria will now have a huge task as she will face Amelie Mauresmo! August 25th 2003: Nice performance by Maria today in her first round as she defeated Theresa Logar 6-4, 6-2 and will face Anca Barna on Wednesday. August 22nd 2003: In her first round, Maria will face Theresa Logar:) You can see the full draw here. August 22nd 2003: Congratulations to Maria as she advanced to her first ever grand slam main draw thanks to a 7-5, 6-1 win today over Adriana Serra-Zanetti!:) August 21st 2003: Wouhou!!!! Masha won today in two tough sets and will now play a final match to try to qualify for the main draw, she now faces #6 seed Adriana Serra-Zanetti! August 20th 2003: Well done Maria:) After losing the opening set, she rallied back to a 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 win over Katalin Marosi and will now face Jie Zheng, who defeated her last week in the 50K final, go Masha!:) August 18th 2003: Maria will now tryo to qualify for the 2003 US Open ladies main draw and in her face match, she will face Katalin Marosi! August 18th 2003: Congratulations to Maria as she advanced to #173 in the world today thanks to her final!:) August 17th 2003: Maria lost the final today against Jie Zheng from China. August 16th 2003: Wow! Maria defeated Lindsay Lee Waters today to advance to the final in the 50K Bronx tournament:) August 15th 2003: Maria advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Ukrainian Julia Beygelzimer and then defeated Gisela Dulko 6-4, 6-2 in the quarters! She will now face Lindsay Lee Waters. August 13th 2003: In her first round, Maria faced Aniko Kapros and she won when her opponent stopped at 4-4 because of injury.. August 12th 2003: Maria won her final qualifying match 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the main draw:) August 11th 2003: Masha is back in action this week as she played the qualifying in the 50K Bronx tournament. She won her first match 6-1, 6-2 against Lastra and then Ani 6-2, 6-2 |
