Ashley is just starting her WTA career, she has been ranked #1 in the 18 and under category in the USA even though she turned 15 during that year! So far, Ashley has entered two pro tournaments, the US Open and Key Biscan losing both times in the qualifications. She also played her first WTA main draw in March 2001 when she was given a wild card at the Ericsson Open played in Miami, USA. Ashley also played the 2001 US Open thanks to a wild card awarded by the USTA, she lost in the first round against Meilan Tu. Ashley's major breakout came in the 2003 Charleston tournament when she posted consecutive wins against Emilie Loit, Elena Bovina, Meghann Shaughnessy and Daniela Hantuchova before losing to Justine Henin-Hardenne, nothing short of exceptional:)
