September 2001 News archives September 4th 2001 - Well this page is getting loads of visitors right now thanks to Ashley's appearance at the US Open, you might want to subscribe to the mailing list just below, I will add many new photos soon and you will be advised when that happens! I also added Ashley's post-match interview in the articles section September 5th 2001 - Ashley started the juniors tournament. She won her first round against Anne Keovathong 7-5, 6-2 and then faced fellow American Megan Bradley that she defeated 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 September 7th 2001 - Another very good win for Ashley today as she reached the semifinals with a win against Barbora Strycova 6-1, 6-4. September 8th 2001 - Well the singles tournament is now over for Ashley after losing today in the semifinals against #10 seed, Marion Bartoli 6-2, 6-3, a 16 year-old from France..Also, I know it's a bit late but I added her first round (juniors) post-match interview today in the articles section September 10th 2001 - I added an article about Ashley's loss today in the articles section. Apparently, Ashley is scheduled to play a challenger tournament in Peachtree City this week, let's hope things go well! September 11th 2001 - Change of events as Ashley finally did not enter the Peachtree city challenger so she is not playing this week.. September 14th 2001 - ESPN did a major survey asking fans who deserved more media attention, Ashley or Anna and a surprisingly high 40,8% of 46119 fans voted for Ashley, very good considering she is just starting and many people probably didn't know who she was! So anyway, you can get a link to the page in the articles section! September 17th 2001 - It does not look like Ashley will be playing this week in any challengers although I still have to check out a few tournaments that have not released their draws yet..As for the new rankings released today, not much change as Ashley remains #286 on the world list..a three place loss.. September 22nd 2001 - I finally got my first set of photos of Ashley from the US Open. I will scan some of them this week for sure so you can look forward to seeing Ashley photos very sooon!:) September 24th 2001 - Great news as Ashley is playing in a ITF tournament in Albuquerque, New York (USA). She is the #3 seed and won her first round match against Holli Freudenberg 6-1, 6-1. Next up is fellow American Alyssa Cohen! September 25th 2001 - I'm sorry I confused a few people. Ashley is actually playing qualifying right now in Albuquerque. She won her second round against Alyssa Cohen 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 and will be in the main draw if she can beat Elisabeth Schmidt.. Go Ashley!
