Just before I begin this article, I’d like to introduce myself. I am Simon Feigl from Melbourne, Australia. I am 17 years old and nearly out of school. I will be starting a course next year on music and hopefully will make a living out of it to because I love it. I have been playing competitive tennis at my club for about 9 years now and I am now the leading junior at our tennis club. I am a big follower of tennis and I have been for quite some time and I hope to bring you some very valuable information so please read and enjoy!

Daniela Hantuchova (9) vs. Elena Dementieva (18) Preview

After an impressive tournament last week in Filderstadt, our young Daniela Hantuchova is in some good form. She was only one set away from only her second ever tournament victory but the come back antics of Kim Clijsters which looked reminiscent of her boyfriend Lleyton Hewitt, proved too much in the end.

After a little bit of a slow start against Janette Husarova, Daniela won a convincing match and now has a date with Elena Dementieva in the second round. You may ask when was it when these two last played and you don’t have to look far back to find that result. Only last week in the semi-finals at Filderstadt did Daniela absolutely demolished the young Russian, 6-3 6-2.

This match will be the 3rd match on centre court following 2 previous doubles matches. The way that I see the match ending up is that Daniela will start to find her true form that she had last week in Germany and she will overcome her in straight sets in a very similar way. Probably 6-3 or 6-4 in the first set, then Elena will break down and lose the second set about 6-1 or 6-2. This is what I think will happen at least and then the most like player that she would play after that would be the strong Amelie Mauresmo.

With the shock loss from Jennifer Capriati yesterday, this could open the draw up a little bit for Daniela because Martinez isn’t that strong of a player and the fact that Jelena Dokic has been very up and down lately, could mean that the player who makes the final will be out of Daniela’s quarter of the draw.

Good Luck Daniela!!!!
