April 30th
2003: Gallery #95
was just added with 10 new photos of Jelena including the one
you see on the right, taken today in Warsaw.

2003: Nicely done today by Jelena as she defeated Myriam
Casanova 7-5, 7-6 (12). She will now face Ondraskova or Magui
Serna in the quarterfinals!

2003: Well I got the news a bit late and was asked not to
make a big thing out of it but it is, I would like to wish
Gerhard a happy birthday:) He has been the staff coordinator for
a few months now and has been a major reason why this website
has been improving all the time:)

readers of Todd's work which is extraordinary and seeing him
publish his 100th column certainly deserves lots of credit. So

2003: Good news! The draw for the tournament in Warsaw is

2003: Well we are only hours away from getting the draw for
the Warsaw tournament. Jelena should be the #4 seed behind Venus
Williams, Amelie Mauresmo and Daniela Hantuchova....

2003: Will Jelena represent Australia in the Olympics? Or
Fed Cup? The question still remains but what seems clear is that
she did not talk about it to either
Alicia Molik or Nicole Pratt

By the way, just a short note to let you know that Jelena is one

2003: Well with Jelena being inactive, we will not have a
new Jelena Corner column this week, but I will soon post links
to Todd's weekly WTA Backspin column as well as his monthly
quiz:) Sad? Well I've got some great news to cheer you up as
Jelena is now back in the top 10:)

2003: Some surprising news is coming out of Australia as
apparently Jelena will try to represent Australia in the 2004
Olympic games. To be eligible, she will need to play 2 Fed Cup

doubles match against Tu/ Vento-Kabachi 3-6, 7-6, 7-5:(

with Rennae Stubbs, the Australian who has been in the #1 ranked
doubles team for most of the past few years and was now openly
searching for a teammate after splitting with Lisa Raymond,

today against still undefeated Serena Williams 6-2, 6-2...

2003: Jelena and Daniela lost their opening match in doubles
against Harkleroad and Washington. Although excuses are never
good, both had played not long before (Daniela even played 2
singles matches today)

2003: Wow, what a match today as Jelena advanced to the
quarterfinals with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 comeback win against Elena
Dementieva! She will now however face world #1 Serena Williams
who is undefeated in 2003! But still, congrats to Jelena on a
great fight!

2003: Sad news as Nadja had to withdraw from both singles
and doubles because of an injury:( Let's wish her a fast
recovery:)
