Article by Daniel Choi

>Sanex WTA (Home Depot Open)

>Los Angeles, CA Third-seeded Australian Open titlist Jennifer Capriati beats Bulgarian Magdalena Maleeva, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Sanex WTA Tour's season-ending Home Depot Championships in the Staples Center.

>First Set (6-2) Capriati wins first set
-The first was somewhat of an ease for Capriati. Her serves were a little sluggish but she managed to pull a one set lead. ESPN was discussing how her serves have changed. Last year, her serves initiated with her back foot stepping back. This year, her serving "style" has quite changed by not stepping back. In my opinion, it really doesn't matter how she serves it, as long as she wins matches, it is good with me.
>Second Set (4-6) Capriati looses second set
-It first start out to me even on both side of the court. Capriati seemed to have an advantage from her STRONG swings. Magdelena had the speed to return. In the second set, Capriati had numerous faults to double faults. This is where the whole discuss about Capriati's served played apart. As I have said, what matters how she serves, as long as she wins, it's fine. The second set was somewhat even, where, the game was tied, to the point where Magdelena led. Although it was a tight set, Magdelena pulls the win for the set.
>Third Set (6-1) Capriati wins SET + MATCH
-Not much to say here, Capriati pulls back and wins the set (6-1) without a problem. Capriati broke serves and took a 3-0 lead before losing her only game of the set. She won the final three games easily to move into the next round.

>Capriati will face the winner of the quarterfinal meet between (world No. 1, and French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion) Serena Williams and (eighth-seeded) Jelena Dokic. Who do you thing would win this, Dokic or Serena? I think Serena... but only reality can tell!
