Day 2... ruined by rain!

Hello everyone!

Long day today but it was still a good one... we got there early simply because despite what we expected, when we got up, there was no rain in sight... sure, forecasts had rain every hour of the day planned but they could have been wrong right? So we headed to Flushing Meadows, and waited in line for the 10AM opening time.... And guess what, when the doors opened, it started raining...! We still rounded courts and there were a few players practicing but nothing major... And then, it rained, rained, rained... everytime it seemed like it was getting better, rain would come back pounding! Finally towards the end of the afternoon, some matches had the time to start, I watched the start of the Gael Monfils match and then when court #7 was ready, as Anastasia Myskina and Victoria Azarenka started their match, I was impressed by Victoria when the match started and during the practice, she looks a lot more solid than last year when I saw her play... She took a 1-0 lead and led 40-30 on her serve when the match was stopped again... We then waited for hours, hours and hours, talking to many people trying to figure out if the match would resume today or not. The US Open, usually organised so perfectly, certainly had some misses today, information was tough to get, few announcements were made, and information given by different parties conflicted a lot...but anyway, I can't wait to see that match and many others tomorrow, I think Myskina will have to be very solid to reach the 2nd round...

Talk to you tomorrow with more to say:)

Pierre
