July 8th 2008: Wow, tragic news as Mark almost died in a surfing accident, you can read about it here. December 20th 2007: The Scud might be done with tennis... as he will now require a fourth knee operation, he admitted he as thinking about it: "I'm not thinking about a comeback at the moment," Philippoussis told reporters after breaking down yet again this week at the Australian Open wildcard playoffs in Melbourne."I'm just going to be thinking about spending time with my family, spending time at home and then assessing things - you know, where life will lead me and what direction I want to take in life and whether I'll be going again."And I'll be honest, you've got to understand it's more a mental battle getting back from injury after injury." December 16th 2007: Mark was in action and won his initial match 6-3, 7-5 against Brydan Klein but then lost his 2nd match against Samuel Groth, his final round robbin match will be against Mark Verryth. December 15th 2007: Mark is in action playing the Australian Open wild card tournament, he will face 2007 junior winner Brydan Klein in his first match..! December 8th 2007: Mark is only days away, one week away in fact! With his protected ranking of 119, he is the top ranked player in the 16 player draw. November 29th 2007: It's now confirmed! Mark is using his protected ranking to play the Australian Open Wild Card playoff, which will be played from December 15-21! November 13th 2007: Mark is hoping to get a wild card for next year's Australian Open but to do so, it seems he will need to enter the playoff event, read about it here. September 6th 2007: Mark has hopes to return to tennis next month as he will be playing an exhibition event in Dallas, Texas. Others who will be playing are Jim Courier, John McEnroe and Mats Wilander... April 18th 2007: Mark will be attempting a comeback as he will be playing in a veteran's tour event in Greece, read about it here. January 3rd 2007: It's now a done deal, Mark has withdrawn from the Hopman Cup and the Australian Open in order to get a right knee surgery... January 2nd 2007: After seeing teammate Alicia Molik lose her singles match, Mark got injured in his match, he stopped while down 4-1 and didn't play mixed doubles... December 30th 2006: Great news for Mark as he and Alicia Molik won their 1st match at the Hopman Cup. He posted a 2 set win against Dmitry Tursunov, a 6-4, 7-6 while Alicia posted a 3 set win against Nadia Petrova, a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, they lost mixed doubles. They will face France next! "It is nothing to get excited about, it was a good match and a good win, a positive start," Philippoussis said. December 14th 2006: Rumors are that Mark will in fact receive a wild card for the Australian Open, read about it here. December 8th 2006: Mark has been given a wild card to play in next year's event in Auckland, to be played from January 8th-13th, read about it here. Today, Lleyton was unable to come from behind in the end of his match and then Wayne Arthurs and Hanley lost in doubles:( September 22nd 2006: Oh darn, things are not going well for Australia in the semis. Mark lost 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 to David Nalbandian and Lleyton Hewitt is down 4-0 in the 5th set against Jose Acasuso... August 30th 2006: Unfortunately Mark Philippoussis suffered a 3 set loss in the US Open 1st round, a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 loss. August 20th 2006: Good news as Mark was awarded a main draw wild card for the upcoming US Open singles tournament, that starts in 8 days...! July 18th 2006: Mark's tournament is over already in Indianapolis as he lost 6-4, 7-6 against Hyung Taik-Lee... July 16th 2006: Wow, it had been a long time since Mark had won a tournament but that's exactly what he did as he won 6-3, 7-5 against Gimelstob in the Newport singles final, congrats! July 15th 2006: Mark continued his toad tonight in Newport, he won 6-7, 6-2, 6-0 against Jurgen Melzer to advance to the singles final, he'll now face American Justin Gimelstob. July 15th 2006: Things continue to go well for Mark, this time he posted a 7-6, 6-3 win against Mardy Fish to advance to the semifinals! He will now face Jurgen Melzer! July 12th 2006: More good news for Mark as today he won 6-3, 6-4 against R. de Voest to advance to the quarterfinals! He will now face either Mardy Fish or F. Alves! July 11th 2006: Mark is back in action playing in Newport, USA! He won his opening match today 6-4, 6-2 against Paul Goldstein! He will now face De Voest. June 28th 2006: Unfortunately Mark Philippoussis suffered a 4 set loss in the Wimbledon 2nd round, a 7-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 loss. June 27th 2006: Great news for Mark Philippoussis as he won her 1st round at the Wimbledon. He posted a 4 set win against Paul-Henri Mathieu, a 5-7, 7-6, 6-3, 7-6 win that now puts him up against Max Mirnyi.
