Roger Federer was born on August 8th 1981 in Basel, Switzerland and started playing tennis at age eight. As he compiled outstanding results in the juniors, ending as #1 in the world in 1998. He turned Pro that same year, and was No. 1 in Switzerland in 2001. Unfortunately, he missed six weeks in 2001 due to a groin injury, yet won his first ATP title in Milan. He continued to progress despite injuries but he was unable to show his full talent..until 2003, when he finally won a Grand Slam title with a stunning victory over Mark Philippoussis, earning at last attention from the public beyond his home country. |
