Philippoussis on comeback trail
Philippoussis knows the clock is ticking on his career.
Mark Philippoussis has turned to Andre Agassi's former coach Darren Cahill and
trainer Gil Reyes in a bid to revive his stalled career.
The Aussie, currently outside the top 100, has worked with them in Agassi's
hometown Las Vegas and is hoping he can match the American's late-career
feats.
"I have no doubt that my best tennis is still ahead of me," said the former US
Open and Wimbledon finalist.
"I'm 30 now, but I want to be able to come back just like Andre did."
Philippoussis added: "I know a lot of people will roll their eyes and say that
they have heard all this before, but the most important thing is that I
believe it.
"I have never done anything like the training I'm doing with Gil. I've spent a
month with him and I've felt such a big difference."
"I feel blessed to have had the chance to work with Darren and Gil - they have
opened their doors to me.
"They didn't need to do that, and I'm very thankful. I hope I can pay them
back by winning a lot of matches."
Philippoussis was speaking ahead of his exhibition match against Tim Henman at
the Blackrock Masters in London which he lost 7-6 (7-4) 6-4.
