16/11/2006:
Hello Everyone,

I'm leaving on holiday, but I'm taking a few minutes right before departure to write you. I lived heart pulsing weeks since my injury. I ran so quickly to make up for lost time. It was a little insane, the way I launched myself, but I left super happy with my victory there, and my return to #1. It's more than I could have ever hoped for.

I feel such immense happiness today able to leave on my vacation with spirits lifted, and set free. I gave everything these past weeks. Things could have turned out differently and pass me by, but it wasn't by chance - I did all the necessary hard work. I enjoyed myself on court in a manner that I have seldom felt before. There was nothing except existing on court, day after day. This is how I constructed my victory.

I shared really strong emotions with my team. There were Marc, Pierre-Yves, Carlos and my friends. It was incredible, and unlike any Masters tournament for me, I will always savour this. It was a week of tests in various situations, but I wasn't afraid; I felt confident. I wanted to benefit from my sheer happinesss in being there. I arrived with many questions, and left passing all the exams quite well.

Starting from today I will take a break from tennis for 15 days. I must look after, and strengthen my calf. Even on holiday I still continue to work, and train a bit. In any case, I will hold onto this beautiful feeling. I can relax, and be content that 2006 finished like this. It was a year filled with extreme emotions, and results as well. I was able to erase the black spots of my season, and I learned hard lessons too. It's the best year of my career, and I think that my continuous growth had enabled me to build. I don't want to look ahead to 2007 yet, there will be time for that a few weeks from now.

I want to make a big point in thanking my fans for all the support during the season. I played a rather filled season, perhaps only 13 tournaments, but you weren't devoid of emotions! I received many messages and even if people don't believe this, I read the guestbook often. It gives me the desire, and the will to always move forward. It also encourages me in everything I do, and makes me want to do it for people who support me.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and let you rest. And I too will rest during the next few weeks, then it will be time again in January.
