Can you believe it? It’s the middle of June and its time for my favourite Grand Slam of the year! Andy will be hoping for a better performance this year ( by winning!) and adding a second Grand Slam trophy to his collection.

Wimbledon! Yes.. time for that posh English afternoon tea with Pimms and strawberries and cream!

THE DRAW ~

Looking at the draw, Andy has come out a winner majorly! He has been seeded second after Lleyton Hewitt which despite reports I think he really deserves as Lleyton has been out with an an injury for 12 weeks and his form recently hasn’t been as good as it could be.

Also in Andys half are

~ Our French Open lovely Rafa Nadal ( it’s a guessing game over what he will wear!!)

~ Guille Coria

~Our other Argentine & runner up in 2002, David Nalbandian

~ The Giant runner up at Queens… Ivo Karlovic

I think Andy should be very chuffed at his draw. As the decision between who would go in his half was deciding by the simple toss of a coin. ( between Nadal and Hewitt). Rafa will probably find it very hard to adapt to the grass after spending such a long time on the slow clay and he also lost in the first round of Halle the week after winning in Paris.

In the first round Andy will play a Czech. Jiri Vanek. They have played once before in 2001 at Delray Beach, with Vanek winning 64 67 64. I guess that result doesn’t really count because it was four years ago and a lot has happened since then!

I am sure that Andy will be feeling really confident this time around at Wimbledon. He won at Queens for the third year in a row and he has had a weeks rest so he will be feeling fresh and ready and raring to go!

Roger won the week before in Halle aswell and Marat done really really well to get to his first tour final on grass. I’m hoping Marat will play really well at Wimbledon. In the first round he will play against the out-of-sorts Thai Srichipan. Roger will play Paul – Henri Mathieu.

I think overall Andy will feel really optimistic with the draw as he has avoided Hewitt.

PREDICTIONS?

Ok… Ill say…

Women…. Gotta be Supernova for a second title.. shes on a roll!

Men… No.. I always curse my luck.

So… That’s all from me… If your going down to Wimby I might well see you there! And of course…… GOOD LUCK ANDY!
