As the Race winner, Davenport, who finished the regular season with a commanding 351-point lead over Amelie Mauresmo, will be presented with a Porsche Cayenne S following her round-robin match against Serena Williams at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

This year, Davenport, 28, claimed the Race for the third time in her career with a unique blend of consistency and extraordinary performances. She posted a Tour-best 61-8 match record and won a Tour-leading seven titles, including the Toray Pan Pacific (Tokyo), the Bausch & Lomb Championships (Amelia Island), the Bank of the West Classic (Stanford), the JPMorgan Chase Open (Los Angeles), Acura Classic (San Diego), the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open (Cincinnati) and the Porsche Grand Prix (Filderstadt).

In 16 Tour events, she reached the semifinals or better 13 times, losing earlier only at the Australian Open (quarterfinals), the Family Circle Cup (quarterfinals) and the French Open (fourth round). She poured it on during the summer, sweeping four straight tournament titles (Stanford, Los Angeles, San Diego and Cincinnati) and winning 22 consecutive matches, the longest streak by any player this season.

On October 18, she regained the world’s No. 1 ranking, the sixth time in her 12-year career that she had ascended to the pinnacle of women’s tennis. By then, she had virtually clinched the Race title, leading by nearly 1,000 points and becoming the first qualifier for the season-ending WTA Tour Championships presented by Porsche, which features the top eight singles players and top four doubles teams in the final Race standings.
