ANASTASIA MYSKINA FORCED TO WITHDRAW FROM NASDAQ-100 OPEN World No. 5 hampered by toe injury MIAMI, USA – Russian Anastasia Myskina withdrew from the NASDAQ-100 Open due to a left toesprain, which she sustained at the Pacific Life Open last week in Indian Wells, Calif. "I'm so disappointed that I can't play this tournament" said Myskina, ranked No. 5 on the WTA Tour. "I was hoping so much that I would be able to compete, but my toe just hasn't healed enough. I've been here in Miami since Sunday, seeing doctors and getting treatment each day." Myskina, a seven-time champion on the Tour, was scheduled to make her fourth consecutive appearance at the NASDAQ-100 Open. "This is such an important tournament. The crowds are always great and the tournament is one of the best on the Tour," Myskina said. "I'm really disappointed for all of the fans and sponsors and am very sad that I can't play here." Lucky loser Gisela Dulko of Argentina now replaces Myskina in the draw. Dulko just notched a careerbest result last week at the Pacific Life Open, reaching the quarterfinals at the Tier I event as a qualifier. The NASDAQ-100 Open, which started Wednesday, boasts a talented field with former world No. 1 Serena Williams making her return to tennis along with other former No. 1-ranked players Jennifer Capriati and Venus Williams. The draw also features more Russian stars, such as Elena Dementieva, Vera Zvonareva, Nadia Petrova and up-and-comer Maria Sharapova. Visit the Ashley Harkleroad page here
