Flipkens out of action

Kirsten Flipkens has been forced to delay the beginning of her first year as a professional due to a stress reaction in her wrist. Flipkens had been working very hard in preparation for the season ahead but now is facing a month without tennis and depending on the development and rehabilitation of the injury perhaps longer. Flipkens will undergo further CT scans to determine the exact nature and extent of the injury. The injury has forced Flipkens out of the Proximus Diamond Games where she was to be a wildcard. Flipkens hopes to be well back on court by the first round of the Fed Cup but until the exact nature of the injury is determined, surgery and a longer lay off can not be ruled out.
