Adidas International – Sydney 2nd Round Lina Krasnoroutskaya V Chanda Rubin 5-7 2-6 This years stay for Lina in the Adidas International has ended in the 2nd after she failed to capitalise on her previous victory against Daniela Hantuchova. Coming into this match on the back of a tremendous performance against Daniela Lina would have been fairly confident of another victory against the American Chanda Rubin. However this match did not go according to plan as Rubin controlled most of the play from beginning to end. The Match Lina’s previous round match saw her return to the form we all know she is capable of, the mixture of her powerful two handed backhand and her all round court play tore Daniela apart. This match 2nd match against Rubin though was a different affair. The first set was close and very well fought by both players. Lina didn’t allow Rubin to pull away from her and she battled hard to keep the scoreline to within one break of serve. In the end though it wasn’t enough to save the set, which Rubin eventually took 7-5. The 2nd set was much easier for Rubin, Lina couldn’t find the game needed to break her opponent down and the American ran out a worthy 6-2 winner. In Conclusion – Looking ahead This was a disappointing result for sure but Rubin is a very good player who on her day can beat the best players in the world. So upon reflection Lina can feel fairly positive about the progression of her game. The victory against Hantuchova in the 1st round was very impressive and Lina can build on that result and look foreward to her next tournament.
