Acura Classic - San Diego Court 11 - 10am Lina Krasnoroutskaya V Silvia Farina Elia 6-2 6-2 A 3rd clash with the big hitting Lindsay Davenport on Thursday is Lina's next match after she did an 'Italian job' over the on form Silvia Farina Elia this morning on Court 11 at the Acura Classic. After a nervy performance in the 1st round against Saori Obata this match seemed to offer a much harder test for Lina, in the end though she breezed passed her opponent and booked her place in the 3rd. Playing on the same court as her 1st round victory yesterday Lina set about the task in hand knowing the high profile match that lay in wait for her should she progress. After the initial settling down period the match took off at 3-2, Lina broke her opponents serve and held her nerve to hold her crucial service game taking the match to 5-2. Another break of serve from the Russian straight away sealed the first set in style 6-2 and the 3round was edging ever closer. As with the 1st set the next set stayed with serve up to 3-2 where once again Lina took the initiative and stepped up the tempo breaking Farina Elia. Lina's powerful game and her punishing backhand was proving too much for Elia and her game began to fall apart, 4-2 became 5-2 and Krasnoroutskaya was on the brink of a well earned win. After a long nervy final game of the set and match Lina hit the winning shot to record an impressive 6-2 6-2 victory over her opponent. The impressive nature of this performance will give Lina great confidence as she prepares now to face a much sterner test in the shape of Lindsay Davenport. Krasnoroutskaya will have to up the level of her tennis once again if she intends to progress even further at this years Acura Classic but after her impressive wins so far, another victory is not beyond her grasp.
