Maria's run in Melbourne to start...
Maria's first Australian Open is upon us, and this morning saw the draw of the qualifying rounds for the womens tournament. Maria faces three matches before she reaches the first round. Tomorrow on court 19 Maria will be second match on against the Czech Renata Voracova, who is ranked 67 places ahead of her. If she wins, she will either face compatriot Maria Goloviznina or Australian Olivia Lukaszewicz. Finally, she will face one of Sophie Ferguson, Alena Vaskova, Janet Lee or Angeles Montolio. Put simply, this is Maria's section of the qualifying draw:
With three games ahead of her, it
will be hard work for Maria. However, hopefully, come the weekend we will be
seeing Maria playing in the first round proper of her first Australian Open.
Keep your eye on the site for updates on Maria's progress. |
